Although Sao Miguel is an island in the middle of the Atlantic ocean it’s no trouble for Santa Clause and his reindeers to get here. The Parque Atlantico mall here in town is fully decked out and ready for Santa’s arrival. Kids won’t have to worry about getting their letters to him either with the cutest collection box set out.

I have one memory of visiting Santa Clause at the mall as a child. I don’t remember much, but I do have a distinct memory of Santa asking me what I wanted him to bring my dad on Christmas morning. In all the seriousness I could muster as a child, I told him to bring my dad a garden rake. I’m not sure if it was panic or a genuine request that my dad be able to add a new tool to his landscaping collection but in my innocence I thought it was a thoughtful gift request.

Although my husband and I will be teaching our son that the real reason for the season is the birth of baby Jesus, a trip to see Santa Clause could definitely be fun.

Hopefully, Tiago will have a more creative gift idea for his dad.
